Get a metal coffee can, put in a roll of toilet paper in it. Soak it with heating fuel or kerosene and drain excess oil out of the coffee can. Put the plastic cover back on the coffee can. When you need heat take the lid off, lite it with a match. Make sure it's in a safe place when you lite it. The can will get hot.And keep a fire extinguisher nearby if you can, especially in a boat. This will help warm hands. Keep several in a boat for those second season duck hunt's.

I'm a firm believer in preplanning a hunt and I alway's bring my GPS especially on foggy water.

Another fluid that works great as fuel in this setup is rubbing alchol. Works great and only produces a small flame, but puts out good heat.

I use the same set-up with rubbing alcohol as well. Burns cleaner, less oily smell.

I do the same with rubbing alcohol, I get the 32 oz bottle from walmart for $1.68 and it burns for a couple hours before the toilet paper roll starts burning.  I usually extinguish it then and refill it so I don't have to keep replacing the roll.

try  rubbing vasoline on cotton balls they burn for a long time an you can vary the heat by the amount of cotton balls you put in the can
