I now keep mine in a plastic bag in a pocket inside my waders. Fell in a river two Thanksgivings ago and destroyed my phone that had been in my jeans pocket inside my waders.

It was 12 degrees that day. Man, that was cold.

If you have to bring your cell phone in to the field by all means protect it so it does not get wet or lost. This is one of my bigest hang ups when hunting I have a very hard time watching people checking the phone while they are hunting IMO if you have to check the thing every 10 minutes then stay in the truck and check with the people calling or texting you and if you have to do this have it on mute so that it will make no noise. In the last 2 years a cell phone has flared birds, we had 5 Specks locked in and with feet down when the phone went off and the birds were gone, got one but if they came in 10 seconds closer we would have had all of them.

If you hunt with me and we are all setup ready to go  you will hear me ask please turn all phones off or on mute and put away lets hunt. My phone will be in my truck and will let my wife know when I get back to the truck.

I keep my phone with me, but I will keep it in my shell bag unless im hunting in the fields then its in my jeans.  You just never no when you might have a serious problems and need to make a call for help.

This might help ya, I let mine get soaked,  But I fixed it by taking out the battery and put both of them in a bowl of rice with a sealed lid for 3 days. It still works fine. just a thought.

Made that mistake once, and also made the mistake of keeping it in my wader jacket pocket.

I have a phone that can take the water. Its one of the mil. speck phones. It has taken a drink several times when out hunting, at home, and at work. Planning ahead don't just mean planning the hunt, and the trip, you have to think about all of your equipment your going to take with you.
