So I have a slew that runs out of the red river into oklahoma. It is about a mile into my place. I build a huge duck blind on it for this year overlooking the shallow flats. It is low right now and wanted to plant some grain crops to help the ducks in mid to late season. I got a bag of browntop millet to plant this weekend but is there anything else I should put out to help the ducks out?

that millet is going to need 60 days to seed out.  do you have that much growing season left.

that we be good enough for this season.  next year you could consider other seed bearing plants.

You plant it now it wont grow and You run the risk of Your hole being Baited.  Dont do it.

i've seen this discussion before regarding what is considered baited and not baited.  as far as millet is concerned, i don't read my regs as falling under the "bait" category.

what would make hand sowing millet in a wet hole any different than a plane flying over public acreage and dropping millet seed on the ground and then hunting over it during the season.

what am i missing here.

I called my gamewarden, who also has turkey hunting rights on my farm, who said it would be ok as long as I didn't hunt it at the very same time I broadcasted it. Like go out in morning broadcast then hunt it that evening. I dont plan on hunting it until after the split, so figure I'll plant this next week then hunt it during second season.

Hey Will the millet isnt gonna have enough time to head out so its better just to save the seed till this summer as soon as it sprouts and we get another freeze it will kill it
