Volunteer- “as referenced from Dictionary.com” a person who voluntarily offers himself or herself for a service or undertaking.
Volunteers are the heart of Ducks Unlimited. It is how Ducks Unlimited is able to raise the millions of dollars it has raised.
The McMinn/Meigs/Monroe Committee currently consist of 25 committee members because of the large area the chapter covers they are trying to expand the committee commitment to include several volunteers from each county. The chapter hosted a committee driver for Monroe county with the meeting on January 16th at Gondolier in Sweetwater, TN.
The meeting started with introductions from District Chairman Anthony Smith and was then turned over to Regional Director Charlie Lowery to show the video “The DU Story.” The evening was full of information on DU’s roll in Tennessee and what the local group could do to help DU in their local area.
The first project the group has is a Wood Duck Box Cleaning day set for February 17th 9:00am at McKinley Branch in Meigs County. The important thing to these volunteers is to get other volunteers involved and ask everyone they know “DO U DU?”
I want to challenge all area, district, and regional chairs to find a place in your town or county or surrounding area that you as a chapter are not meeting in and host a recruitment party. You might be surprised at the new volunteers the chapter might gain. The meeting had a total of 5 new volunteers.
