The Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Ducks Unlimited and Waterfowl USA pooled funds to acquire and permanently protect 33 acres of Lake Erie coastal habitat in Monroe County to become part of the 2,037-acre Erie State Game Area. The McKinley property contains approximately 28 acres of coastal forested wetlands and 5 acres of uplands. In addition to providing habitat for breeding wood ducks and migrating waterfowl, the property also features critical migratory stopover habitat for a diversity of
bird species.
