Huntley Ritter, new DU-TV host MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 7, 2011 ─ Ducks Unlimited Television has had some exceptional hosts throughout the years: Oran Richard, Jamison Parker, Marc Pierce, Jared Brown and Wade Bourne. Huntley Ritter joins that list of avid waterfowlers and passionate conservationists as the show's host when the new season of DU-TV premiers in July.

Many will recognize Ritter from major motion pictures, as an actor and producer or from the popular outdoor show "The Huntley Way." Ritter grew up hunting and fishing in Georgia and dreaming of western Montana, where he now resides with his wife.

"Huntley is a down-to-earth outdoorsman who cares greatly about the game he pursues and the habitats in which they live," Tom Fulgham, DU's chief communications officer, said.

"He's a great fit as the new host of Ducks Unlimited Television, and we are excited to have him as part of the DU family."

The seasons often dictate Ritter's outdoor interests. In addition to his interest in waterfowl hunting, Ritter is an accomplished big game hunter and avid fly fisherman. Above all, he is a conservationist. Along with his excitement and passion for the outdoors, he brings his life creed and motto to the 2011 DU-TV set, "Work to Live, Live to Hunt."

"I have been a DU member for many years, and I have to say, the more time I spend with staff and volunteers, the more impressed I am with the organization," Ritter said. "During filming of the DU-TV show this last year, we spent 16 weeks in the field, and that time has given me a perspective few rarely see. We experienced some incredible waterfowl hunts and met some of the greatest pioneers in wetlands conservation. The habitat achievements of DU staff and volunteers have exceeded my wildest imagination. I am awestruck by the dedication, passion, and hard work behind the scenes and excited to be part of the DU family."

Join Ritter and DU staffer Mike Checkett as they kick off the 2011 DU-TV season Tuesday, June 28, at 10 a.m. EDT on the Outdoor Channel, America's leader in outdoor TV.

DU TV will air four times each week, July through December 2011, during the following times (all times are in Eastern Daylight Savings/Standard Time):
  • Tuesday 10 a.m.
  • Saturday 2:30 a.m.
  • Sunday 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Ducks Unlimited is the world's largest nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving North America's continually disappearing waterfowl habitats. Established in 1937, Ducks Unlimited has conserved more than 12 million acres thanks to contributions from more than a million supporters across the continent. Guided by science and dedicated to program efficiency, DU works toward the vision of wetlands sufficient to fill the skies with waterfowl today, tomorrow and forever.
