Ducks Unlimited and WaterDog TV to Hold Educational Camp in July
MEMPHIS, Tenn., May 27, 2006 – Ducks Unlimited’s WaterDog TV show is looking for a few good youngsters – and their dogs. On July 6-9, the Ducks Unlimited WaterDog TV show will hold their first “Camp WaterDog Daze” at the Firewater Lodge near Victor, S.D.
Camp WaterDog Daze is designed to provide youth with in-depth, hands-on educational experience focused on dog training and waterfowl hunting. Activities will include, dog training seminars, duck calling, firearms safety, waterfowl identification and much more. Some of the best dog trainers in the country, including Justin Tackett and “Yella,” will be on hand to provide one-on-one guidance. This will be an opportunity any up and coming waterfowl hunter cannot afford to miss.
Ducks Unlimited Greenwing members (12-17 years of age) are invited to send a photo of themselves with their dog and write an essay (250 words or less) addressing the following:
- Tell us about you and your best canine friend.
- What’s you biggest need in training your waterdog?
- Why do you want to attend this waterdog experience?
Entries can be mailed to: Greenwing Camp WaterDog Daze - Ducks Unlimited, One Waterfowl Way, Memphis, Tennessee 38120 or send via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. All entries must be received by Thursday, June 15, 2006.
Ten Greenwing Campers and their waterdogs will be selected to attend from the submitted essays. Campers will be notified by Monday, June 19.
Lodge accommodations, first class cuisine, are being provided by WaterDog TV’s sponsors: Avery, Creative Answers, Dogs Afield, Eagle Eyes, Sport Dog Brand, Mossy Oak, Zink Calls, Dancin’ Dog Productions, and Ducks Unlimited.
While we are attempting to get all travel underwritten, travel to and from the lodge at this time will be the responsibility of the individual Greenwing Campers.
As an added bonus the entire weekend will be filmed for an upcoming 2006 episode of WaterDog TV on the Outdoor Life Network (OLN).

With more than a million supporters, Ducks Unlimited is the world’s largest and most effective wetland and waterfowl conservation organization. The United States alone has lost more than half of its original wetlands - nature’s most productive ecosystem - and continues to lose more than 80,000 wetland acres each year.
