MEMPHIS, Tenn., November 15, 2005 - Most duck hunters know the scenario. You’re all geared up for that early morning hunt, only to discover a massive tree trunk has fallen across your path to the duck blind. Enter every outdoorsman’s best power tool friend - the chain saw. Recognizing the chain saw’s contribution to waterfowlers everywhere, outdoor power equipment manufacturer ECHO is now a proud Sponsor of Ducks Unlimited (DU).
Through a multi-year agreement known as Partners for Home and Habitat, ECHO and Ducks Unlimited will educate consumers about the importance of habitat conservation while delivering useful information about home landscaping and the proper use and maintenance of outdoor power equipment.
"Ducks Unlimited supporters are do-it-yourself consumers who value quality and durability in the tools that they use, and ECHO clearly meets this standard,” said DU Executive Vice President Don Young. ECHO is a great addition to the Ducks Unlimited community, and we appreciate their commitment to habitat conservation."
As part of the agreement, special ECHO chain saw prize packages, including saw, carrying case, ear protection and chaps, are being awarded at select DU banquets across the country to raise funds for DU's mission.
In 2006, ECHO's Chain Saw Carving Team will spread the word about DU as they conduct carving demonstrations and compete in carving competitions throughout the country. When carving for ECHO events, the team will “carve for the wetlands” and donate their wood sculptures to DU fundraisers.
ECHO will also be prominent in Ducks Unlimited magazine, on DU Radio and on the DU Web site.
"As supporters work to maintain their property with ECHO tools, they can feel good that ECHO is working with us on the bigger landscapes of vital habitat restoration throughout North America," said Philip Milburn, Ducks Unlimited Director of Corporate Relations & Brand Management.
For the past 30 years, ECHO has been a worldwide leader in the development and manufacture of professional-grade hand-held outdoor power equipment.
“Environmental conservation is a cornerstone of ECHO’s corporate philosophy,” said ECHO’s Vice President of Marketing Joe Fahey. “The company’s commitment to conservation and our passion for the outdoors make this partnership with Ducks Unlimited a perfect fit.”
With more than a million supporters, Ducks Unlimited is the world’s largest wetlands and waterfowl conservation organization. The United States alone has lost more than half of its original wetlands – nature’s most productive ecosystems – and continues to lose more than 100,000 wetland acres each year.
