MEMPHIS, Tenn., March 7, 2007 – Ducks Unlimited (DU) and Winchester are celebrating 20 years of working together to raise funds for DU’s conservation mission.  Hosting continental shooting events for conservation, Winchester and DU have raised more than $3.5 million since the first event in Colorado Springs in 1987.

Winchester“Winchester has always been recognized as a leader in supporting our shooting heritage, and we are proud that our support has been instrumental in allowing DU to develop successful wetland and waterfowl conservation programs,” said Richard M. Hammett, president of the Winchester Division of the Olin Corporation. “We have been privileged to support DU’s shooting events for the past 20 years and look forward to continuing our partnership.”

Winchester helps promote the shooting events and provides quality target loads enabling DU to optimize the funds it raises for conservation.

“Winchester is a great partner and a wonderful supporter of our wetlands and waterfowl conservation mission,” said Steve Borst, DU volunteer and shooting committee chairman. “DU and Winchester’s continental shooting events bring sporting clays shooting enthusiasts, DU supporters and other conservationists together to compete, have fun and sharpen their shooting skills, while raising much-needed funds for conservation.”

The 2007 events will celebrate the 20-year relationship, including the chance for participating shooters to bid on a very unique and exclusive opportunity to hunt at the famous Nilo Farms in Illinois, as guests of Winchester. Auctions are scheduled for the season’s last three events. Proceeds will support DU’s wetlands and waterfowl habitat conservation mission.

With more than a million supporters, Ducks Unlimited is the world’s largest and most effective wetland and waterfowl conservation organization with almost 12 million acres conserved. The United States alone has lost more than half of its original wetlands - nature’s most productive ecosystem - and continues to lose more than 80,000 wetland acres each year.
