A Ducks Unlimited and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks wetland project near Charlo, Montana is featured in a story in The
Missoulian .
The article, by Rob Chaney with photographs by Linda Thompson, says, "Urban renewal is for the birds. The giant dirt scrapers rearranging the earth along Ninepipe Road are carving out a new wildfowl city in the heart of western Montana's already-premier birding country. When finished later this fall, a new wetland 124 acres big will join the complex of state, tribal and federal bird sanctuaries that dominates this part of the Mission Valley."
DU Construction Manager Tom Eckroth is quoted in the story as saying, "Most of western Montana is forest, so this kind of prairie pothole country is pretty rare. You guys live in a special area."
