Permits will be issued for two California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) special apprentice waterfowl hunts at Grizzly Island Wildlife Area in Solano County.
To be eligible, apprentice hunters must have successfully completed a hunter education course and possess a valid 2010-11 California Junior Hunting License at the time of application. A hunting or non-hunting adult 18 years of age or older is required to accompany and supervise the apprentice hunter. Spaced blinds on Pond 11 and the Crescent Unit of the Grizzly Island Wildlife Area, located southwest of Fairfield, and/or a special unit will be made available to apprentice hunters and their chaperones and will be closed to the general public.
The hunts are scheduled Saturday, Dec. 11 and Wednesday, Dec. 29. The application deadline is Dec. 1. A total of 10 permits will be issued for each hunt date and apprentice hunters may only apply once. Please mail a standard-sized post card to:
