Iowa, Nov. 13, 2006 – Ducks Unlimited’s representative on Iowa’s Sustainable Funding for Natural Resources Committee, Tammi Kircher, says Iowa citizens still have an opportunity to be heard on funding for natural resources. A series of meetings were held last week to gather comments on the process, and Kircher encourages those who couldn’t make it to the meeting to go to the committee’s website and register their opinions at the
group's website.
Kircher says the meetings generated several great comments that will be discussed at our next meeting. “I was very much encouraged by the positive response to the work done by the committee thus far,” she said. “We're not there yet, but we are so much further than we were the end of September.”
The meetings were hosted by the committee, which was created during the last Legislative session to study and make a recommendation to the General Assembly for creating a sustainable funding source for natural resources. In addition to receiving public input, the committee updated the public on its progress.
