Ducks Unlimited, Inc. (DU) is developing a proposal to request funds through the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) to restore or enhance wetlands and associated habitats in the southern region of California and Lower Colorado River zone of Arizona. This proposal will be phase 3 of a multi-phase initiative to restore, enhance, and protect critical wetland habitats in the arid regions of Southern California. DU is seeking interested private landowner partners who may have potential wetland projects on their property, and who may be in need of additional funding to complete wetland restoration and/or enhancement work on their property. Projects that include water conservation or wetland/riparian restoration and enhancement are high priorities for funding.
Eligible private lands partners will be required to commit non-Federal cost-share funding ranging from 20%-50% percent of overall project costs, depending on project size and other factors. Funds secured through this grant would also benefit other species of wildlife, and sportsman will continue to benefit through these efforts of habitat conservation and protection of our waterfowl resource. Interested landowners should contact DU Regional Biologist Chris Hildebrandt, (209) 761-8400, childebrandt@ducks.org, or Project Biologist Derek Mynear, (209) 761-8401, dmynear@ducks.orgto see if their property qualifies for this opportunity.
