Renowned wildlife artist Be Forbes will be honored at this month’s Richmond Ducks Unlimited Annual Banquet as the 2007 Artist of the Year. Forbes, who is widely known for both his waterfowl and sport fish art, won with his depiction of Canada geese titled “Enough’s Enough.” This is the first time Forbes has featured his work at the Richmond DU event, which will be held at the Science Museum of Virginia. The original piece will be auctioned on Feb. 21.
“We are extremely thrilled to be able to offer this one-of-a-kind piece at our event,” said Connell Mullins, area chairman for Richmond DU. “This piece will help us tremendously in our efforts to raise conservation dollars.”
For more than 20 years, Forbes has been producing sport fishing- and hunting-themed artwork for Ducks DU. “Enough’s Enough,” an original oil on canvas, features a waterfowler who has bagged his limit of Canada geese in a picturesque marsh setting typical of Eastern Virginia waterfowling. Forbes has never offered an original oil painting at a DU event, and chances are slim that he will again. Forbes agreed to sell this piece to Richmond DU because it is the largest fund-raiser for the ducks in the Commonwealth.
To explain the success of his paintings Forbes noted that DU is the perfect blend of sportsmen, conservationists, and sport fishermen who see the value not only in his art, but also in preserving the habitat that is needed to support these interests.
“DU supporters are some of the most ardent conservationists in the world, and some of the most passionate sportsmen. They are drawn emotionally to my work because of their experience in the blind or on the water,” Forbes said. “My work doesn’t tell the whole story, but the emotions that it brings out in a waterfowler allow the individual to put themselves into the work—for them to finish the story. That’s the response I want.”
Forbes and his art have been showcased on numerous magazine covers; featured in several newspapers and in magazines such as Sporting Classics, Big Game, and Marlin Magazine; and appeared on ESPN, ESPN 2, the FOX Network, FX, NASCAR 360, and the Speed Channel, as well as on numerous talk radio programs. His originals can be found in several corporate and private collections in all 50 states and in 18 countries.

With more than a million supporters, Ducks Unlimited is the world’s largest and most effective wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, with almost 12 million acres conserved. The United States has lost more than half of its original wetlands—nature’s most productive ecosystem—and continues to lose more than 80,000 acres each year.
