This fall, DU and its partners will dedicate a 90-acre restored wetland on New York's Montezuma Wetland Complex in memory of the late Dr. Guy Baldassarre. Guy's Marsh will be a lasting tribute to Dr. Baldassare, who was a distinguished teaching professor at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry for 25 years, where he specialized in ornithology and wildlife management. Dr. Baldassarre was named one of the nation's most influential conservationists by Outdoor Life magazine and was a recipient of DU's National Wetland Conservation Achievement Award. Montezuma Wetland Complex was one of his favorite places to bring students.
DU's Completing the Cycle (CTC) Initiative will help fund the Guy's Marsh Memorial Wetland Restoration. Those interested in donating to this initiative are asked to contact Matt Fenoff, director of development, via email at
mfenoff@ducks.org. More information about Guy's Marsh can be found on the Friends of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex website at
