LAS VEGAS – March 9, 2016 – Ducks Unlimited's "Ducks in the Desert" Las Vegas Continental Shoot wrapped up in late February as the most successful in the event's 30-year history, thanks to 488 main-event entries and 522 shooters in the sub-gauge rounds.

Participants from 37 states and four different countries took part in the five-day tournament at the world-class Clark County Shooting Complex in North Las Vegas.

"Ducks in the Desert was a resounding success," said Jim Konkel, chair of DU's National Shooting Committee. "We surpassed last year's record-setting number of attendees thanks to the lure of the venue, coupled with a winter getaway to Las Vegas. We expect next year's event to be even bigger and better, and we're always looking for ways to make it run smoother yet be more challenging and fun for the shooters."

Seth Picanso of Elko, Nev., was crowned the High Overall champion for his winning score of 195 in the 200 bird main event.

Created in 1986, the Las Vegas Shoot featured more than $75,000 in prizes and included title sponsors Browning Arms, Fiocchi, and the Aliante Hotel + Casino + Spa.

All events were governed by National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) rules, but membership in the NSCA was not required for shooters to participate. The main event, as well as the preliminary and the 50-target Five Stand event, featured seven NSCA classes. Special concurrent prizes were awarded in the main event and preliminary event for Ladies, Sub-Juniors, Juniors, Veterans, Super Veterans and Senior Super Veterans categories.

The 2017 "Ducks in the Desert" Las Vegas Continental Shoot will take place Feb. 16-19, 2017, with special room rates available at the Alianté (rate code: DUCKS17). Early reservations are advised as rooms fill up quickly. For additional information, visit www.ducks.org/shoot or email shoot@ducks.org.
