Purpose: To acquire 2,909 acres of bottomland hardwoods and formerly wet prairie habitat along the Mississippi River. This acquisition provides valuable foraging habitat to migrating and wintering waterfowl. Mallards, pintails, green-winged teal, and American black ducks will be the primary waterfowl species that benefit from this project. B.K. Leach Conservation Area will be managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation to provide quality foraging habitat for waterfowl, while providing public hunting opportunities.
