DU and the Michigan DNR are partnering to restore approximately 135 acres of coastal wetland habitat at Wigwam Bay State Wildlife Area. DU secured funding from the Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiative Network, Bay Area Community Foundation, and Dow Chemical Company and used these funds to match a $75,000 request to the North American Wetlands Conservation Council that was submitted in December. If this grant is awarded, DU and DNR will have sufficient funds to complete the project. DU will provide the engineering services for this restoration.
