ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Sept. 3, 2013 – Ducks Unlimited recently awarded Regional Director Josh Voelker a 2012-13 Regional Director of the Year award for his outstanding efforts as a staff member in Region 6, an area that encompasses the Mid-Atlantic and New England.
Voelker, a resident of Queenstown, covers Maryland and works with volunteer committees hosting fundraising events for the 76-year-old wetlands conservation organization. The events in Voelker’s region generated more than $700,000 for DU’s conservation mission during the fiscal year ending June 30.
"This award is a testament to the dedication of Maryland’s DU volunteers,” Voelker said. "Our state has a rich waterfowling history, and as a team, we’ll continue to do all we can to further our sporting legacy.”
Volunteers are the heart and soul of Ducks Unlimited, coordinating more than 4,000 local fundraising events that generate more than 400,000 memberships and more than $50 million annually.
