Purpose: To restore 500 acres of moist-soil wetlands on Westvaco WMA through construction of levees and installation of several water control structures to control dense stands of willow and enhance waterfowl habitat. Additionally, Westvaco will construct an interpretative trail to demonstrate the compatibility of forestry and wildlife management practices. Mallards, black ducks, and wood ducks will use bottomland hardwoods when the Mississippi River is at flood stage. The area is managed by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to provide quality wintering habitat for waterfowl.

Location: The project is located on Westvaco WMA in Carlisle County approximately 1 mile north of Columbus State Park, KY.
