Purpose: To enhance 100 acres of waterfowl habitat on Sloughs WMA through construction of approximately 6,700 linear feet of low head levee, installation of two water control structures, and installation of one 8" water well. Installation of a pumping station was necessary to provide reliable flooding capabilities. The Sauerheber Unit serves as a waterfowl refuge and receives extensive use by a variety of waterfowl during fall migration and winter. The area is managed by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to provide quality wintering habitat for waterfowl.
Location: The project is located on Sloughs WMA in Henderson County approximately 4 miles northwest of Geneva, KY.
