Purpose: To acquire and protect 113 acres of wildlife habitat on Sloughs WMA. Since date of acquisition, KDFWR has constructed two low head levees, installed two stop-log structures, and installed a 4” water well to mechanically flood this site. The goal of this project was to provide additional waterfowl habitat along the Ohio River. The Alves Tract serves as a refuge for wintering waterfowl and provides roosting/resting sites for both ducks and geese. The project is managed by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to provide quality wintering habitat.

Location: The project is located on Sloughs WMA in Henderson County, just east of Alzey, KY on the south shore of the Ohio River.
