Purpose: To restore 10 acres of moist-soil habitat on Kentucky River WMA through construction of an exterior levee and installation of 2 water control structures. The objective was to create a moist-soil impoundment adjacent to the Kentucky River. Because shallow wetlands are rare in this region, this project will be beneficial to wintering waterfowl. Water management is dependent on winter precipitation and backwater from the Kentucky River. The area is managed by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to provide quality wintering habitat for waterfowl.

Location: The project is located on Kentucky River WMA in Henry County approximately 3 miles east of Lockport, KY.
Acres Impacted: 10 acres
Habitat Types: Moist-soil Wetlands
Partners: Kentucky Dept. of Fish and Wildlife Resources
Ducks Unlimited, Inc.
Timeline: Construction was completed in February 1995
