Purpose: To construct 10 small wetlands on 5 sites near Cave Run Lake in eastern Kentucky. Scarcity of shallow water wetlands limits waterfowl use in this area. Moist-soil management will be practiced on the wetlands to provide habitat for migratory and resident waterfowl species. Wetlands surrounding Cave Run Lake receive extensive use by a variety of waterfowl including mallards, wood ducks, black ducks, and Canada geese. The area is managed by the U.S. Forest Service to provide quality wintering habitat for waterfowl.
Location: The project is located on Daniel Boone National Forest in Bath, Menifee, and Rowan Counties approximately 48 miles west of Morehead, KY.
