GARDNER, Kan. – Jan. 7, 2014 – Ducks Unlimited (DU) has hired Chris Young as its newest Kansas regional director. The Kansas native will be working with DU volunteers in eastern Kansas to further DU’s conservation mission. Young takes over for Russ Hawley, who now works for DU in Texas.
“We are excited to have Chris fill the position of regional director in eastern Kansas. He has a great deal of volunteer experience, which will help greatly in this position,” said DU Director of Fundraising and Volunteer Relations Greg Dinkel. “Chris’ wildlife background, passion for the resource and sales and marketing experience will be an asset to DU’s Kansas and Great Plains teams.”
Young holds a degree in biology with an emphasis in fisheries and wildlife and was a district sales manager for a distribution business. He has been a volunteer for multiple Kansas DU chapters, and recently served as co-chair for the Kansas DU State Convention.
“I am grateful to have the opportunity to work for Ducks Unlimited. It is truly a dream come true,” Young said. “I can’t wait to join the Kansas DU team.”
Young enjoys the outdoors, including hunting waterfowl and wild turkey, and also serves as a Kansas Hunter Education instructor. He lives in Gardner with his wife, Kelly, his 2-year-old son, Drake, and two black labs.
