DU, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Eel River Chapter of Pheasants Forever recently partnered to acquire a Great Plains no-till prairie drill for use in northeast Indiana. This drill will be used to plant native warm season grasses on projects under the Northeast Indiana Pothole Initiative. Since a shortage of no-till drills in the region limited the amount of warm season grasses that could be established, acquisition of this drill will significantly increase the amount of prairie work that will be completed under our private lands program--ultimately resulting in increased waterfowl production.
