"The leadership of our board of directors ensures we are fulfilling our mission to conserve, restore and manage wetlands and associated habitats for North America's waterfowl," said DU CEO Dale Hall. "Our board members are not paid for their work. They volunteer their time and resources because they feel so strongly about conservation. I welcome each new member and look forward to working with them in the years to come."

Johnson has been a volunteer for more than 31 years and has served in many other capacities for Ducks Unlimited. He is currently the state’s major gift chairman. He was the state chairman of Illinois for two years and state’s treasurer for two years prior to that. "Conservation is a true passion of mine. I believe whole heartedly that if we need to make responsible choices to leave a natural resource legacy for future generations. Ducks Unlimited is one organization that is making a real difference on the landscape. I’m proud to step up my involvement and I look forward to this expanded role."
