DU-TV is currently filming for the 2012 season in Saskatchewan. Show host, Huntley Ritter, and DU Sr. Communications Specialist, Mike Checkett provide a glimpse of the hunting conditions they faced throughout the week.
Quill Lakes
Unseasonably warm weather with highs in the 70's and low 80's has made hunting tough. Birds only flying early and late. Little to no wind.
There has been a push of new Canadas into the Quill Lakes area in the last couple days. Snow goose, and particularly Ross goose numbers are strong.
Duck numbers are strong, but difficult to shoot over water because of all the options.
The Quill Lakes are way out of their banks. Flooding hundreds if not thousands of acres of pasture land around the lakes.
Hunting success despite tough conditions has been good in the barley lentil and pea fields.
