JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., June 21, 2011 – During its annual convention held recently in Quebec City, Ducks Unlimited Inc. elected James R. "Jim" Talbert, of Jefferson City, to its national board of directors.

"We are extremely pleased Jim was elected to the Ducks Unlimited board of directors," said John Newman, DU president. "Jim has a long history as an active DU supporter and conservation leader. He brings a wealth of leadership and experience to the team, and we're proud to have him on board."

Talbert is a partner in Property Research Company in Jefferson City. A long-time member of Ducks Unlimited, he was Missouri State DU Chairman from 2005-06 and Missouri State DU Council Chairman from 2007-08. He serves on DU's national finance committee and its conservation programs committee. Talbert also serves as a board member for the Conservation Federation of Missouri and is an avid hunter and angler.

"This is more than an honor. It's an opportunity to give something back by helping conserve wetlands and waterfowl across North America," Talbert said. "In my years with Ducks Unlimited, I've seen first-hand how effective DU is at conserving habitat. It's great to be able to personally help do that on a national scale."

Ducks Unlimited is the world's largest non-profit organization dedicated to conserving North America's waterfowl habitats. DU is governed by a volunteer board of directors and senior officers.

"As a member of DU's board of directors, Jim will help guide DU's future decisions and conservation activities. It's a significant commitment and a pivotal position. We thank Jim for lending his considerable talents to the team," said Newman.

Ducks Unlimited is the world's largest non-profit organization dedicated to conserving North America's continually disappearing waterfowl habitats. Established in 1937, Ducks Unlimited has conserved more than 12 million acres thanks to contributions from more than a million supporters across the continent. Guided by science and dedicated to program efficiency, DU works toward the vision of wetlands sufficient to fill the skies with waterfowl today, tomorrow, and forever.
