WILMINGTON, Del. June 17, 2011 – During its annual convention held recently in Quebec City, Ducks Unlimited Inc. elected William "Bill" D'Alonzo, of Wilmington, Del., to its national board of directors.

"Bill is one of the leading conservationists in the mid-Atlantic and we're extremely pleased he was elected to DU's board of directors," said John Newman, DU president.  "He brings a wealth of leadership and experience to our board and will provide critical guidance to our business planning team."

D'Alonzo is President and CEO of Friess Associates, manager of the Brandywine Funds and institutional portfolios for leading pension plans, foundations and endowments. As a DU volunteer and supporter for more than 20 years, D'Alonzo has served on DU's Development Committee, Finance Committee and the investment sub-committee.  He also serves on the board of directors for DU's Wetlands America Trust.

"I'm happy to help and honored to serve Ducks Unlimited," D'Alonzo said. "Wetlands and waterfowl have always been a key part of my life, and it's important to me that my children and future generations have access to the same outdoor experiences I've enjoyed. DU is the best in the business at conserving that habitat, and I'm grateful to help in any way I can."

Ducks Unlimited is the world's largest non-profit organization dedicated to conserving North America's waterfowl habitats. DU is governed by a volunteer board of directors and senior officers.

"As a member of DU's board of directors, Bill will help guide Ducks Unlimited in our future conservation work," said Newman. "It's a pivotal position, and he brings considerable talent to the table."

D'Alonzo and his wife Sarah have two children. In addition to his duties with Ducks Unlimited, D'Alonzo serves on the board of Delaware Wild Lands, and owns and operates several farms on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Established in 1937, Ducks Unlimited has conserved more than 12 million acres thanks to contributions from more than a million supporters across the continent. Guided by science and dedicated to program efficiency, DU works toward the vision of wetlands sufficient to fill the skies with waterfowl today, tomorrow, and forever.
