Memorial and Tribute Giving FAQs

Q. What's the difference between a memorial and a tribute?

A. A memorial page is created for a friend or family member who is deceased. Tribute pages, on the other hand, can be created to honor the living to celebrate their lives or special accomplishments such as graduations, weddings, first hunts, etc.

Q. What do I need to do to create a memorial or tribute page?

A. You need to be logged in to your My DU account.

Q. Do you have to be a member to create a memorial or tribute page?

A. No. Anyone can create a memorial or tribute page.

Q. Will my memorial or tribute page be visible to anyone else?

A. By default, once you create a page, it will be visible to others who may visit the DU website. This will increase visibility to your page and increase the potential for donations. However, if you would like to keep your page private and only visible to those with whom you share the link with, you may do so under the "options" tab when you create or update your page.

Q. After I setup a memorial or tribute page, how can I make changes?

A. You may update your page as often as you like by going to your My DU homepage and looking under the Tribute and Memorial Giving block. You'll see a list of all of your pages with an "edit" link.

Q. Is there a limit on the number of memorial or tribute pages that I can create?

A. No. You may create as many as you like.

Q. Will donations made over the phone appear on the website?

A. At this time, offline donations made on the phone or via check will not be reflected on the website. Also, memorial funds that are setup by phone will not be reflected on the web.

Q. Does it cost anything to create a memorial or tribute page?

A. No, it's completely free! However, you'll need to create a My DU account first and be logged into your account before you can create your memorial or tribute page. If you don't have a My DU account, click here to sign up for free.

Q. Can I designate a DU chapter to receive credit for donations?

A. Yes. You may select a DU chapter to receive credit for gifts made online. You can do this in the account setup process, or by editing your account in the "Options" box. Only the person who creates the page can specify a chapter to receive credit. An individual donor may not specify a chapter.

Q. Who will be notified if I make a donation to a tribute or memorial?

A. The person who created the account will receive an email notice when you make your gift. In addition, if that person added another family member, they will receive a notification as well.

Q. Will the amount of my donation be sent to the person who created this page?

A. No. DU will not disclose the amount of your gift to anyone.

Q. Will my name show up as a donor on the memorial or tribute page?

A. Your name will show up if the person who created the page enabled this option.

Q. May I sign a memorial or tribute guestbook without making a donation?

A. If the person who created the page enabled a guestbook, you may leave a comment without making a donation.
