"This wetland project was made possible through the important support of Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, who made a gift through their will." This statement, though short and simple, speaks volumes of the impact that nearly 700 Ducks Unlimited donors are having on wetlands conservation by committing to a planned gift through DU's Feather Society.

To recognize these thoughtful donors, DU has unveiled a Feather Society recognition wall at its national headquarters in Memphis. "Over the years we have created two other recognition walls highlighting leadership gifts made by Major Sponsors and President's Council members," says DU Director of Gift Planning Byron Liles. "The Feather Society wall 'completes the set,' so to speak, for our Major Sponsors."

The Feather Society wall highlights planned giving commitments of $100,000 or more to DU's endowment. Thanks to the leadership and advocacy of Mike Woodward, DU senior vice president of development, and Monty Lewis, chair of DU's emeritus board, Ducks Unlimited is spotlighting those who believe deeply enough in its work to elevate the organization to "family" status by giving through their estates. These gifts are a key component of the Conservation Legacy objective of DU's Rescue Our Wetlands campaign and a guaranteed source of support for the organization in the years to come.
