This photo was taken while on a freelance hunting trip across the Dakotas. The hunting pressure in the area was intense, but we fortunately lucked out and secured access to the "X" for thousands of mallards! The evening before, my hunting partner and I watched waives of mallards by the hundreds (potentially by the thousands) stack up in what became "our field.” We knew the next day would not only bring a bag limit of mallards, but a memory of a lifetime. We were not disappointed. We alternated flocks allowing the person on deck to simply enjoy the view. After we filled our limit, we continued to watch flock after flock come within gun range. (Submitted by James Bunkers)
