The Prairie Experience is a unique combination of classroom and field experiences for Ducks Unlimited Major Sponsors from around the country see, touch and feel the prairies. DU recently hosted the event in some of the most exceptional duck-breeding areas on the continent near Bismarck, N.D. as part of the Preserve our Prairies initiative.

“The feedback from the Prairie Experience was spectacular,” said Matt Fenoff, managing director of development for the Great Plains Region.
Prairie Experience participants and staff traveled to DU’s Coteau Ranch. The outing gives people who have a passion for waterfowl a chance to look and learn about how they can play a key role in helping DU preserve our prairies. The event helps attendees understand the biology of waterfowl and how important prairie wetlands and grasslands are to waterfowl. Participants witnessed first-hand the challenges facing the prairies and DU programs designed to halt the loss of grasslands and wetlands.

Attendees leave with a better knowledge of where great waterfowl migrations begin and the DU staff who help deliver the programs that make it happen.
