Tell your members of Congress to support NAWCA funding in FY 2012
The U.S. House of Representatives is currently debating H.R. 2584, the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for FY 2012 this week. Over 200 amendments have been filed for this legislation, meaning the debate could extend into the weekend.
The
North American Wetlands Conservation Act is a vital conservation program that provides a cost-effective way to conserve and protect wetlands through match-based grants. For every federal dollar invested, an average of $3.20 in non-federal dollars is raised as a match.
Conservation programs like NAWCA not only protect important waterfowl habitat, but also provide positive economic benefits. Overall, hunting and fishing support more than 1.6 million jobs and generate more than $25 billion a year in federal, state and local taxes. Simply put, an investment in this conservation program helps generate a significant return for America's economy.
Ducks Unlimited is urging its members to contact their U.S. Representatives to encourage them to support the funding of NAWCA in FY 2012. To tell your elected officials that NAWCA is a sound investment for waterfowl and our economy,
