To recover from the oil spill, Louisiana's wildlife and habitats need legislative action from Congress. More than a year has passed since the Gulf oil disaster, and Congress still has not acted to pass legislation that can meaningfully advance the restoration of the Gulf Coast, including the valuable marshes of Louisiana. It is essential Congress acts this year to remain true to their promise of ensuring the region gets the help it deserves. In order to ensure Gulf Coast wetlands are properly restored, Congress needs to support legislation that dedicates fines and penalties from the disaster to restoring Gulf Coast wetlands and ecosystems.
