BISMARCK, N.D. – Nov. 26, 2013 – Ducks Unlimited has chosen Carmen Miller as its new director of public policy for the Great Plains Region. In her new role, Miller will be working on federal and state policies that affect DU’s conservation work in the Great Plains. DU’s Great Plains Region is headquartered in Bismarck, and includes the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.

“We are very pleased to have Carmen join the DU team,” said Steve Adair, director for the Great Plains. “She brings a wealth of experience and credibility to our policy efforts across the Great region. Carmen will offer increased collaboration and strong leadership in working with our members and partners.”

Miller joins DU after seven years as a consultant on federal energy and conservation policy for the Pew Charitable Trusts. She began her career as an assistant attorney general for the State of North Dakota. Prior to receiving her law degree, Miller worked in U.S. Sen. “Coming from a family of hunters, I appreciate North Dakota’s sporting heritage and am proud to join an organization with such a strong commitment to one of North Dakota’s greatest resources,” Miller said. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to continue my career in conservation policy with DU.”

Originally from Minot, Miller received her law degree from Tulane Law School and is a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. During college, Miller studied in Shanghai, China, and at Oxford University. She lives in Bismarck with her family.
