How You Can Help
Collectively, these efforts are the foundation of DU's Preserve Our Prairies Initiative. They are tried and true, and they deliver conservation results. A diversified strategy, including close collaboration with agriculture, robust communications, and sound public policy, will be required to turn the tide of wetland and grassland loss on the prairies. Fortunately, we already have a remarkable record of conservation achievement in the Prairie Pothole Region, thanks to the hard work, generosity, and dedication of generations of DU members, volunteers, major donors, private landowners, and other partners.
One thing remains clear, as it has for over 75 years: conserving healthy and abundant waterfowl habitat on the prairies will be essential to the future of duck populations—and duck hunting—in North America.
We have the blueprint for success. Now it's up to us to secure the resources to make it a reality. For more information about how you can support DU's Preserve Our Prairies Initiative, visit the DU website at ducks.org/preserveourprairies
