Purpose: This project involves acquisition of 3,445 acres of bottomland hardwood wetlands and cypress/tupelo swamp to provide high quality breeding, migration and wintering habitat for waterfowl, non-game birds, and other wetland dependent wildlife. The acquisition will protect in perpetuity 3,445 acres of remnant forested wetlands in an area that has experienced significant wetland losses during the past 100 years. In addition, the acquisition will allow the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to manage this wetland complex as one contiguous unit for the benefit of migrating and wintering waterfowl, while providing public hunting opportunities.
