Weekend For Wetlands
I would like to take this opportunity to invite all DU members to the Grand Strand Chapter's 2nd Annual Weekend For Wetlands held on November 2-3, 2007.
Our November 2nd Annual Fundraising Banquet at SBB 4 Corners in Murrells Inlet will be our biggest and best yet. There will be roasted oysters, barbecue hog, shrimp and wings for appetizers; followed by a gourmet dinner provided by Outback Steakhouse.
We will have 15 raffle tables - each loaded with $1000 or more in merchandise. Including a camo golf cart and numerous guns.
Our live auction will feature over twenty unique items, not in the DU National Package:
- A large print collage signed by Strom Thurmond, Governor Riley and President Reagan. This collage features a South Carolina Duck Stamp Print, raised gold state emblems, and a picture of the State House at night with the Confederate Flag flying. It is framed in Brazilian hardwood.
- A 1928 Ithaca double barrel shotgun in mint condition.
- Several unique hunting and fishing trips.
- A life sized Great Blue Heron (original driftwood sculpture) by Lee Arthur.
- #283 of 950 - The 1976 DU National Artist of the Year Print by Les Kouba.
- #73 of 100 - Larry Toschik medallion print form 1974 (Harlequin Ducks).
- The #1 selling print of 1979 - "Called In" (Mallards by Toschik).
- Several Ralph J. McDonald's best prints. (Ralph will be a special guest at the event!)
- Plus much more!!!
The Fun starts at 6:00 PM.
Our November 3rd Greenwing Day will be held at A Dog's Way Inn and will feature food/soft drinks, fun and games for all ages. There will be a fishing contest in a pond stocked with hybrid striped bass, archery and gun safety demos, a BB gun turkey shoot, a hay bale hunt and numerous other games for the small kids. The SCDNR virtual reality trailer will be on site.
