IRA Rollover
One of the ways that you can help conserve waterfowl habitat for future generations is to donate a portion of your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) disbursements - and you'll get a break on your federal income taxes!
If you are over the age of 59½ you can contribute part or all of your IRA disbursements to charities like Ducks Unlimited - but only until the end of 2009 unless Congress acts soon.
The law that allows you to support wetlands conservation with contributions from your IRA expires on December 31, 2009.
Congress has introduced proposals to continue these donations - and the tax benefits that come with them - in both the House and the Senate.
Senate Bill S. 864 and House Bill H.R. 1250 would continue these benefits permanently.
