LAC Wetland Inventory (sites data)

Summary

The LAC Wetland Inventory provides basic site data for wetlands in Latin America and the Caribbean, such as name of wetland, location, coordinates and other information.  It is presented in excel format, with links to the original sources of the data.  The Wetland Inventory is a compilation of already available information generated through several efforts:

- DU-LAC Waterbird Survey Sites (1999-2007)
   Sitios de Conteos de Aves Acuáticas DU-LAC (1999-2007)

The DU-LAC Waterbird Surveys data has been drawn from the surveys carried out by colleagues in LAC.  It is not an exhaustive list of all wetlands in each country.  In case of doubts, please consult country experts.

Caution must be exercised when using data from this source.  Any such attempts should be made in close consultation with DU and/or the country experts who have knowledge of the specific limitations of these data for individual countries and species.

- Wetlands of International Importance, Ramsar Sites

The Ramsar Sites database includes information derived from the Ramsar Information Sheet, the Ramsar National Reports and/or from Administrative Authorities correspondence provided by Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention Secretariat.
