Dusseau Acquisition—Erie State Game Area (Monroe County)

DU provided $81,000 to the Michigan DNR to help acquire the 66-acre Dusseau tract. The parcel is located six miles north of the Ohio border in an area known for supporting large populations of waterfowl, particularly during migration. This property contains approximately 60 acres of quality Great Lakes coastal wetland and six acres of adjacent upland buffer. The land has been incorporated into Erie State Game Area and is open to the public for outdoor recreation. DU’s support was derived from private funds and the Lake St. Clair/Western Lake Erie Watershed NAWCA grant. Waterfowl USA also contributed funds toward this acquisition.
