Conservation in New Jersey

Ducks Unlimited (DU) conserves habitat at the continental scale to meet the lifecycle needs of North America’s waterfowl.  New Jersey is part of the Atlantic Flyway, providing important migration and wintering areas for many of the continent’s waterfowl such as American black ducks, mallards, canvasbacks, and Canada geese.

During 2005, working with a variety of partners, DU’s New Jersey conservation program restored, enhanced and conserved 2,513 acres of wetlands and adjacent habitat while completing 10 projects. New Jersey’s conservation projects are designed to maximize the amount and quality of migration and wintering waterfowl habitat as well as improve conditions for waterfowl production.

Atlantic Coast Ecosystem Initiative

The objective of the Atlantic Coast Ecosystem Initiative is to conserve and restore coastal watersheds, specifically tidal wetlands and inland freshwater habitats which support and benefit waterfowl, fish, other wildlife, and people.
