DU Magazine Corrections

On page 21 of the May/June issue, “Shotgunning” columnist Aaron Pass incorrectly reported the demise of the Ithaca Gun Company. The company remains alive and well, as evidenced by their website: www.ithacagun.com. Our apologies for the error.

On page 61 of the “Greenwings” column in the May/June issue, the editors mistakenly listed the lesser snow goose as one of the waterfowl species found in the Marsh Watch photograph. As many observant readers have pointed out, the birds shown in the photo are not snow geese but swans. According to photographer Willy Onarheim, who took the photograph in Oregon, they are tundra swans. Again, our apologies for the error.

In a Ducks Unlimited magazine story earlier this year, it was reported that two Ducks Unlimited employees rescued an elderly woman from a submerged van at Los Banos Wildlife Area in northern California.  The woman was pulled from the van by Ducks Unlimited biologist Jeff McCreary, who swam across a canal and entered the sinking vehicle. DU Regional Director Jim Gregory provided assistance.
