SLOUGHS WMA
Crenshaw Tract

Purpose: To enhance 75 acres of waterfowl habitat on Sloughs WMA through construction of two low head levees and installation of water control devices to enhance water management capabilities. The goal of this project was to provide additional waterfowl habitat along the Ohio River and to enhance public hunting opportunities. The units are flooded in mid-October with a goal of 100% water capacity by opening day of duck season in November. The project is managed by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to provide quality wintering habitat for waterfowl and additional public hunting.

Location: The project is located on Sloughs WMA in Henderson County approximately 6 miles northwest of Geneva, KY.

Acres Impacted: 75 acres

Habitat Types: Moist-soil Wetlands
Flooded Agricultural Crops (Soybeans and Corn)
