The Neotropical Waterbird Census 1990-1999
Ducks Unlimited, Inc. and Wetlands International (WI)
have published the results of the waterbird censuses started by WI in
1990, an effort that involved over 700 participants from six South
American countries. The document is divided into three parts, with Part
I (Spanish) and Part II (English) including, "Exploring the value of
the Neotropical Waterbird Census as a conservation and wildlife
management tool" plus tables, figures and annexes and Part III
including the results of the Neotropical Waterbird Census 1995-1999
(Spanish only).

Science and Local Comunities
This volume is based on
the Symposium on "Science and Communities: Strengthening Partnerships for
Effective Wetland Management" that took place during the Wetland
Millenium Event held in Québec, Canada, in August 2000. Some of the
papers presented were related to projects where DU is implementing the
Ramsar Convention on Wetlands "Guidelines for establishing and
strengthening local communities' and the indigenous people's
particiation in the management of wetlands".

1st Regional Meeting on Waterfowl Surveys and Wetland Conservation in Central America, the Caribbean and northern South America
This report is a summary of a meeting of survey participants from 15
different countries to discuss the initial results of DU's Latin
America and Caribbean Waterfowl Survey Initiative, and share the
experiences and ideas of survey participants from the different
countries.

1999 Neotropical Waterbird Symposium
This symposium was held at the VIth Neotropical Ornithological
Congress, Monterrey, Mexico, and served as a venue to discuss the
status of conservation and research of waterfowl in the Neotropical
region.
