Waterbird Surveys in Suriname

Suriname received funding from Ducks Unlimited, Inc. from 1999-2007.

Suriname’s major wetland areas include the Coppenamemonding Nature Reserve, the reservoir Lake Brokopondo, and the Young Coastal Plain along the coast.  Shorebirds are very numerous along the coast, and use it as stop-over and post-breeding grounds.

Los principales humedales de Surinam incluyen la Reserva Natural de Coppenamemonding, el embalse del lago Brokopondo y la planicie costera de Young.  Las aves playeras son muy abundantes a lo largo de la costa, que utilizan como sitio de escala en las migraciones y durante la temporada postreproductiva.
