St. Francis Sunken Lands WMA
Wayne Hinds Tract - Acquisition

Purpose: To acquire 80 acres of forested wetlands habitat on St. Francis Sunken Lands WMA through fee title acquisition. Ducks Unlimited and partners have focused on enhancement of the St. Francis Sunken Lands WMA in northeast Arkansas due to the extensive alteration and drainage of wetland habitat in this region.   This area is an important migratory corridor for waterfowl along the St. Francis River and will be managed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to provide high quality waterfowl habitat, while public hunting opportunities.

Location: Approx. 3 miles east of Truman, AR (Poinsett County)

Acres Impacted: 80 acres

Habitat Type: Forested Wetlands / Bottomland Hardwoods
