Galla Creek WMA
Forested Wetlands Restoration

Purpose: To restore 2,356 acres of forested wetlands habitat on Galla Creek WMA through renovation of existing levee and replacement of flood-damaged water control structures. The Galla Creek WMA has been in existence and managed primarily for migrating and wintering waterfowl for over 30 years. It is a traditional and key stopover site for migrating mallards using the Arkansas River corridor. Since 1990, the green-tree reservoir has not been operable because the water control structure was destroyed by floodwaters. This project is managed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to maintain high quality wetland habitat for waterfowl, while providing public hunting opportunities.
